So one of my best friends was banned from DA.

And the reason was "u trolled"

GEE THAT SURE IS A DETAILED REASON FOR THE PERSON TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE BANNED. Considering it's easy to distinguish "trolling" from "a not as ass-sucking comment."

DA admins = morons.

I sort of assumed in the real world, higher-ups would warn "offenders" of "whatever rule they broke" so that they learn and not do it again. And that people who don't have a "record" would not be thrown such a rash and "permanent" decision. Seriously, I don't think my friend joined DA just for trolling, he was kind of hitting it up with like 200 deviations and just going on his merry way.

I mean I'm not gonna write them something because that's really the business of my friend and them, but I'm just going on a fit because of how utterly RETARDED this is. And hey, lol free speech on journal.

(Also for those who are like "LOL INACTIVE LIL" yeah I haven't drawn anything in the past two weeks, my wanting to draw is dead right now. I might attempt it today, but not promising anything.

Also as a random question so I don't get yelled at, why do people like drawing fancharacters for series? Not to sound offensive, but fancharacters sound so.. useless. You have a million Sonic recolours and at this point I'm getting more fancharacter stuff than original character art. And aren't the original characters what made the person love the series in the first place? It just boggles my mind.)

As I said, I wasn't involved in the incident where they decided to ban him so I don't think it would help at all for me to get on their case. It's his business to deal with, but I want to offer him support and at least publicly call out on their idiocy since.. I don't know. I feel like it XD *Hit*

Yeah. I love getting fancharacters, but when it's becoming the most common thing aside from real fanart, I feel like the fans are more concerned about putting themselves into the story as opposed to paying tribute to the characters that pulled them into the story in the first place!

Ack, that sucks about your friend being banned :[ I've heard a ton of complaints about the dA staff..

And I'm not really sure xD I guess it's because people would rather use their time to glorify their fantabulous fancharacters instead of doing boring pictures of characters that aren't actually theirs.

Not the same reasoning for me, though xD I only have one fancharacter, and I'd rather draw him over an original sometimes because it's okay if I screw up on his picture, but if I deface one of those lovely originals, I feel bad :[

One of your friends was banned? Do you know why or was it just one of those "oh well" situations? Because I totally think if they did it for a retarded reason, she/he should totally rally about it! They decided to make a rash decision, it's their job to clean it up even if it means constant annoying notes. The admins need to realise this.

*Hugs back* Hahahah, I know. I embraced fancharacters once, but maybe that's what caused other people to try their best to want to insert fancharacters into my series. They want to be the next Tess or something. But that won't be happening again. It makes me feel guilty needing to reject them now.. and not to sound selfish, but it's a bit saddening when someone's like "I drew you fanart!" and I'm all excited.. when I realise it's just a fancharacter.

Ahahahah, well we were twelve when we did that XD And my fancharacter wasn't friends with Sonic, she was just my avatar for being on the forums. I'm sure that's different. She was from a "separate world" of sorts.

Yes it is quite a problem out there, I have felt the sting of such an accusation as this one.
The trick is to make an alternative account using a completely different name, and getting your attacks in that way.
Of course, you have to drop all of your current mannerism to use such a tactic, and I've never done it since I've been told that I have a very distinctive way to my writing patterns, but I have seen people pull it off to the point of being called Flame-artists.

It's just strange to do "boring" pictures of characters that aren't theirs when those characters are what attracted them to the series in the first place! I love Pokemon and I think drawing Red calling out his charizard is wayyyy more paying tribute to the fandom I love as opposed to drawing STARGLEAM, the best Pokemon catcher in history who joins Ash and Brock and Misty on their adventures!!!

Hahahah, yeah. And I used to have a Sonic-based character before, but she was used as an avatar in forums as opposed to someone who "knew" Sonic and would "help him on his adventures." So I don't know.. I can understand people who do that. But there's people who are like "I HAVE THIS CHARACTER FOR YOUR SERIES can you please use her/him" and I feel guilty because I've already got more than enough characters!
